How to watch the Oscars tonight, and why you should be on time

But the telecast was postponed because of the deadly shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, on Friday morning.

The Academy, which has hosted the Oscars since 1935, was scheduled to broadcast the event live, but the telecasts were postponed due to the shooting.

The telecast had been rescheduled for Thursday evening, but a new date was announced.

The Oscars, which typically are broadcast in the late evening and early morning hours, will now begin live at 8 p.m.

Eastern on ABC, CBS and NBC.ABC, CBS, and NBC will broadcast the ceremony in full.ABC and CBS have also confirmed that the telecasting of the Oscars will be delayed until the end of the day.

The awards show airs on the ABC and CBS Television Networks, with NBC and CNN airing it separately.
