A24’s Zombie Movies: ‘The Last Boy’ is the Most Emotional movie on the Block

A24 has just announced that their upcoming zombie movie, “The Last Boys,” will receive the best picture Oscar nod for best picture, for best director, best actress, and best supporting actress.

“The final result will be a testament to the hard work and talent of the actors and filmmakers who make this film possible,” said A24 Chairman and CEO David O. Rubenstein.

The film, which centers on a young boy (Ethan Hawke) and his brother (James McAvoy) in a zombie apocalypse, will be directed by David Fincher and star Ethan Hawke and James McAvoys “The Mummy” and “The Day After Tomorrow.”

The film is currently in post-production, but it is currently slated for a 2019 release.

“Our team at A24 is thrilled to be able to award this unique and highly anticipated film with the Academy Award,” said Jeff Goldstein, President and Chief Executive Officer, A24.

“This will be the first film in a long time that will receive an Academy Award for best film and we’re so grateful for the support of the Academy and its members.”

The Last Boys is the first feature film from A24 and the first in the franchise to receive a Best Picture nomination.

“We’ve been working closely with our team to craft a compelling and emotionally powerful film that will leave audiences wanting more,” said Oscar-nominated director David Faccini, who co-directed “The Killing Fields.”

“We hope this nomination will be an important one for the film and an important step in helping us move forward with our vision for a world in which the world can heal.”

The winner of the Best Picture Oscar will be announced on Sunday, December 9.
